Jayhawk Theatre

The restoration and preservation of the Jayhawk Theatre of Kansas will attract thousands of people to the heart of downtown Topeka. A mix of elegant architecture and state-of-the-art technology will provide a catalyst for downtown revitalization. The movie screen telecommunications capabilities for corporate and State teleconferences through the weekdays and will feature live broadcasts of sports or concert events on evenings and weekends. Jazz concerts, International film and silent film series, country western and rock ‘n roll concerts, live comedy, children’s movies, and special films are just a sample of what this 900 seat intimate theatre will offer.

We invite you to join us in completing this important project with your financial commitment. The “Take Your Seat” campaign is designed for small businesses and individual donors. You will be providing start-up funds needed to qualify for matching grants for historic preservation and funds for marketing and fundraising. Historic grants along with qualifying tax credits will provide more than half the total cost of renovation and construction. A bargain for downtown revitalization!

make your pledge today and then plan to celebrate with other patrons at the Jayhawk opening night event. Only those who participate in the “Take Your Seat” campaign will be invited to attend the Grand Opening Gala Celebration.

Your sponsored seat(s) will include a permanent name plate with your name or the name of those you wish to honor.  Your name(s) will also be on a bronze display in the lobby area of the theatre in appreciation fo your support. In addition, you will receive recognition on the Jayhawk website with your personal memories or comments on the Jayhawk.

Twenty percent of the total amount pledged is requested to reserve a sponsored seat. Forty percent is due within 12 months and the remaining balance due in 24 months.
